TLDR : Answer Summary
You can typically go to any immigration office in Thailand to apply for a re-entry permit without needing an appointment. However, be aware that certain offices may have specific guidelines, such as requiring you to have previously obtained your visa extension, TM30, or completed 90-day reporting at that location. It's advised to arrive prior to lunch hours, as some offices, like the one in Central Festival Chiang Mai, only issue permits until noon. Make sure to bring the necessary documents, including a completed TM8 form, copies of your visa/extension, your latest entry stamp, a passport-sized photo, and the appropriate fee (1000 baht for a single re-entry, 3800 baht for a multiple entry).

Thanks guys. Appreciate the advice. 1 year extension is happening at chaengwattana just before I need to travel now. Hopefully I can get the re-entry at the same time.

, you should be able to apply for re-entry permit immediately after you get your extension in your passport.

Your profile shows you're in Chiang Mai, so keep in mind that the office at Central Festival only sells re-entry permits until they close for lunch at noon. They don't sell them all day at that office

IF you have an extension from a different province you cannot get a re-entry permit at the main immigration office at the government complex on Chaengwattana Road. They won't sell re-entry to out of province extension holders

You have to get it at the airport when you fly out

, then all you can do is try CW. as you don't have extension yet, there still is possibility of getting there.

I have a non b which I got in Vietnam. It hasnt been extended to a 1 year yet.

then you will need to meet the requirements for the ONE YEAR EXTENSION of stay under the Non b Visa you now have in your passport. There is no 30 day extension of stay available.

Some offices will not sell you a re-entry permit if you didn't get your extension there, have a TM30 filed there or do 90 day reporting there

You don't need an appt to go buy one, just show up, fill out the TM8 form, have the copies of your visa/extension, most recent entry stamp, a passport sized photo and 1000baht for a single or 3800baht for a multiple
