TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the possibility of obtaining an additional week of visa extension at the end of their retirement visa. Commenters noted that typically only a full year can be granted, and any short extensions might necessitate leaving the country and reapplying.

Why didn't you just apply for another visa prior. Sounds like bad planning mate

do a border run then FFS

No, a year or nothing. Unless you get the 7 day denied extension, but then you would have to leave the country and start all over again.

yes that’s what I’m planning. So i could get the extra week?

So you don't have Thai family (wife or child)? The extension denied 7 day stamp is not an extension so you would have to get it on your final day to get 7 more days. If that is the weekend or a holiday you're stuffed and will need to border bounce

it’s the 3rd, my last day, but I wanted one more week before flying out

Then show up on the 3rd, they'll deny you the year extension because you don't meet the requirements and sell you an "application for extension not approved" for 1900baht giving you 7 days to get out of thailand

this fits, the 3rd is on Tuesday, and the 7 days start with day number one on Wednesday, expiring at midnight of the 10th

the problem is, the 7-days grace period starts on the day your application gets denied . . you gotta figure out how that plays with your timeline. It means that if you visit Immigration on the last day of your EOS, the 7 days start the next day

what do you mean by denied?

no legal extension option available, so 7 day extension denied stamp and must leave the country

@Jade ***********
the 7-days are NOT an extension. The 7-days is a stamp that says "application denied, you have 7 days to leave the kingdom" and it will cost 1900.- THB

Thank you. Any office closures we know about this week?

@Jade ***********
this week closed on the 5th and next week closed on the 10th. Tod posted last week all the closures for this month.

@Jade ***********
closed on saturdays and sundays, and closed on December 5th (Bhumipol's B-day, and on December 10. If you really want the 7 days on top, then you need to go on the very last day of your existing stay permit. Can't apply one or more days earlier

Check how your immigration office would do it, but I think it should be possible.
