Is it okay to do another border bounce at Nong Khai after an STV in Thailand?

Hey there,

We did our first land border bounce last month at Nong Khai/Ventiane (Laos). Came straight back to Thailand. It was very easy from Bangkok so thinking about going there again next month.

Came in August on STV (90 days).

Did the above border bounce as our STV had ended and came in on first Visa exempt (45 days) and did one extension for 30 days last week.

Hoping to come in once more on visa exempt and one more extension before heading home in April. We thought our STV was good for 270 days, which is why we booked that date to go home.

Thoughts about going back to the same border, is that ok? Will stay one night if it helps.

Or is it better to go with a border run company to Cambodia (same day return)?

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has successfully completed a border bounce from Thailand to Laos and is considering doing another bounce to extend their stay in Thailand using a visa exempt entry. They received advice from the community confirming that multiple border bounces at Nong Khai are generally acceptable, with some users recommending considering a border run company to Cambodia as an alternative. Additionally, there are discussions about obtaining a 60-day visa sticker in Vientiane to potentially avoid multiple border crossings.

UPDATE: Went for a night this time at Vientiane, seeing as we had purchased the Laos Visa on arrival.

When coming back to Thailand, entered via land crossing at Nong Khai and visa exempt a second time, no problems or questions asked. Easy again to do by yourselves 😊

Recommend To take 60 days sticker Visa in Vientiane

Capital and Do 30 days extension in Thailand. Saves you for border run and is Cheap

If you're in Bangkok go to Cambodia with a company. It's a one day trip, about a 10hr day for approx 3500B

Thanks, do you know a reputable company? Thinking about doing this but think we prefer the 1 hour flight to Udon and 1 hour mini van ride to Nong Khai each way. But will have a look. 🙏🏽

Google Bangkok border run, it's one of the first that comes up. The time from when you leave home till when you return would be similar. Just seems more of a hassle, be better just to fly international and return if you were gonna fly at all.

Laos borders are by far the easiest for bounces.

Should have no issue doing another bounce next month at the same border. You’re only allowed 2 exempt entries by land per calendar year (Jan 1 - Dec 31). But the “clock” resets on Jan 1 anyway. Just bear it in mind if you plan on visiting later in the year.

thanks, we’ve only done that one land crossing this year last month. Do you think it’s best to stay one night? Thanks!

shouldn’t make a difference. I do not have personal experience of that border so can’t say for sure.
