Good morning

I'm due to fly to Thailand next Wednesday on a return air ticket. Can I just check that coming from the UK I can get 30 day exempt stamp on arrival and then extend this sor another 30 days at the local immigration office?

Do I need any passport sized photos etc?

Cheers

Phil

TLDR : Answer Summary
Travelers from the UK can receive a 30-day exempt stamp upon arrival in Thailand and are eligible to extend their stay for an additional 30 days at the local immigration office. However, it's important to have a return or onward ticket to board the flight. Some immigration offices may have specific requirements, such as needing passport-sized photos for the extension application.

Yes but you'll need onward/return travel within 30 days to board your flight.

You could apply for 60 day tourist visa online at Royal Thai Embassy London website.

why waste the time and money doing a border bounce when you can just go to immigrant and get an extension?

because he may get the visa before Wednesday!

what??? Visa exempt is 30 days and you can apply for 30 day extension. That has nothing to do with a visa

seems like a lot of extra work to apply for a visa and maybe not get it and do a border run for no reason when they can just get an extension

You might want to check your airline policy as they might require you to show a ticket out of Thailand within 30 days before they'll let you board your flight.

You can apply for a 30 day extension at your local immortal office. Requirements vary by office but these are the most common.
