I’m currently in Quarantine. I flew in on a Visa Exemption. Got the 45 day stamp. Do I get one 30 day extension. I want to convert to a non immigrant visiting family visa next. Why do I need to do to not have any problems.

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can extend your Visa Exemption by 30 days, but it is recommended to apply for a 60-day extension based on visiting Thai family, especially if you have a half-Thai child. To apply, you'll need your passport, your child's ID and birth certificate, the application form, passport photos, and the processing fee. Requirements may vary by immigration office, so it is important to specify which office you will use and the reason for your Non-Immigrant visa application.

if you were not married to the mother when the child was born, having your name on the birth certificate is NOT enough to let you get a 90 day Non-O visa inside the country based on raising half thai children :(

You need to go thru family court and get recognized as the father and get parental rights granted (when a thai child is born out of wedlock 100% of the parental rights are the mother's) It takes about 5-6 months to get an uncontested parental rights case thru family court,

OR

IF the child is over 6 or so you and the mother can go to the local amphur (city hall) and get your parental rights granted that way

You need to say WHAT immigration office you're gonna be using to get the Non-Immigrant visa, and say what reason you think you're gonna get it for (marriage to a thai, raising half thai children, etc)

*Edited to reflect for an extension of stay based on visiting Family with half-Thai child*

>Do I get one 30 day extension.

You can, but in your case, I wouldn't recommend it. I recommend getting a 60 day extension of stay based on visiting Thai family. You will need:

1. Your passport and a copy of:

- Your data ("picture") page

- Your Non-O visa

- Your entry stamp

- Your departure card

2. Your CHILD PHYSICALLY next to you, and

- The child's ID card and a copy of her ID card

- The child's housebook, and a copy of the first page

3. The Child's birth certificate (either the rose border certificate, OR a certified translated copy from your home country)

4. The application form

5. 2x passport pictures

6. 1,900 THB for the processing fee.

Different immigration offices have different requirements, and this may include:

- A copy of the TM30 filed where you live

- Rental contract (if renting property or a condo)

What immigration office will you be using?

Don't you need ID copy, etc of child's mother (Thai) ?

I'm not sure for 60days extension based on visiting Thai family.

@Ellie ******
No you don't, thankfully; only the child's information.
