Hi guys,

Can anyone please advise regarding getting the marriage spouse visa.

I’m just getting my marriage certificate done with my wife this Friday.

The immigration officer from Chaengwattana has asked me to :

1. Firstly, extend my tourist visa (expiring on Sept. 30th) and then later

2. Get an extension for ‘visiting spouse visa’ so I can later apply for the marriage visa (non-o)

A bit confused and wondering if anyone went through something similar?

Thanks in advance 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on the process of acquiring a marriage spouse visa in Thailand after getting married. They were instructed by an immigration officer to extend their tourist visa first and then apply for a visiting spouse visa to later convert to a marriage visa (Non-O). Comments suggest following the immigration officer's advice, highlight the requirement to be married for two calendar months before applying for the in-country Non-O visa, and mention an alternative option of obtaining a visa from a Thai consulate without the two-month requirement.

Your other option would be to go to a thai consulate in a nearby country and get a single entry 90 day Non-O visa via the online eVisa system.

To get the visa that way doesn't require you to be married 2 months

So you already have a Thai bank account, have you been working in Thailand for a year or does youe Embassy still do the income affidavit?

They advised you to do that because you have to be married for two calendar months before you can apply for an in-country 90 day Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai.

So follow what they say and then when that last 60-day stamp is down to a couple weeks ago apply for the in country Visa like they said.
