Question re Thai DL extension in Phuket. After the first 2 years we have to extend our Thai DL in December. There is no possibility to make an online appointment until next April 26. There must be an alternative option at the DLT phuket or? Can I collect all needed docs and got to DLT without the online appointment? Just stand in the row first thing in the morning? Thx for help

(we don‘t want to go to other provinces)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about extending their Thai driver's license in Phuket, expressing concern over the unavailability of online appointments until April. They seek advice on whether they can approach the DLT office without an appointment, potentially standing in line early in the morning. Comments suggest that walk-in appointments are possible, with tips to arrive early, have all necessary documents prepared, and consider alternatives like visiting nearby DLT offices for quicker appointments.

I did this just a few weeks ago.

Have all the paperwork ready and get to the DLT office EARLY. You definitely need to be there before 8am.

Takes a couple of hours and then you leave and come back at 1pm for reaction test etc.

Thx for your anwers, even the rude one. I didn‘t know that there was the possibility to just walk in even without an appointment. If I had been aware of that I wouldn’t have asked here 😏 Now I can decide if I drive nearly 3 hours to Takua Pa (one way) or rather wait some time in the lane at Phuket DLT 😉

maybe you better go to Phuket DLT in low season. You still got time. To upgrade your 2-year temporary license to a 5-year license, you must do it within 1 year after the expiration date.

Most people i know go to phang nga now

Yes, you have to go early , wait in the tent to get the number and be patient . It will take some time but it's possible to just walkin.

Go to takua Pa dlt. They have appointments within a few weeks. About 1.5 hours north of Phuket airport

Thanks but we don‘t want to go to another province.

then wait and drive illegally and get a fine. I don’t care. If you can’t be bothered to drive 90 minutes to be legal then you don’t deserve to drive in Thailand

why so aggressiv? I did not know that there is also a possibility to walk in at Dlt phuket as they accept 100 people per day without online appointment as well until somebody here gave me the tip.

By the way, it takes nearly 3 hours (one way) to Takua Pa dLt from where I live in Phuket. So please stop such rude answers, thx.

you don't really have another option. Phuket isn't available till April 2026.

I’m not aggressive. I gave you a solution to your question which you dismissed out of hand. If it takes you three hours to get to takua Pa then you drive like a 90 year old. It takes me 2.5 hours from khura buri to Phuket. Which is more than double the distance.

@Julian ******
I drove there from south Phuket and it took me (with respecting speed limits) 2.5 hours one way.

again you are rude. Somehow you have no clue at all. It takes 1.5 hrs. until I‘m over the Sarasin Bridge. You don‘t seem to know anything about the traffic in Phuket. Just take a look in google maps. Yes you‘re right, it shows 2.5 hrs from your khura buri to Phuket (northborder). Now just look up khura buri to rawai. 😉 Please if you are not able to stay polite in your answers, then rather don‘t write anything.

drove to Rawai last week from home. 2 hours 40 minutes. I live 50 minutes from the dlt at takua Pa.
