TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is asking if they will receive another 60-day tourist visa upon re-entering Thailand after a short trip to Malaysia. While many commenters suggest that this is possible, they advise being prepared with necessary documentation such as proof of onward travel, accommodation, and sufficient funds in cash to satisfy immigration officers, as the acceptance can vary depending on the immigration officer's discretion. Previous experiences shared indicate that border runs might lead to complications, and it's essential to ensure compliance with Thai immigration rules.

we (a visa advice group!) are receiving reports that some people, who do a second visa-exempt entry at land border crossings, have been asked to show a booked & paid for (!!) flight ticket back to their home country. Now you can share another laughing icon with us

All entrys are on the discretion of the Immigration officer in front of you, no matter, how many ( or few ) visa excemtions you have.

very true. Also depends on how you answer their questions

what questions could they ask ?

difficult to know what they will ask so you just have to be quick witted. My case i had a retirement visa for many years extended every year. Had an indefinite emergency so left little before my visa expired. Never extended it. Returned without an onward ticket. Was asked why i never renewed. Indefinte emergency. Why returned now? I want to renew my nonB n retirement visa. Ok n let through.

Before l got my retirement Visa last year I did the 60 days then the 30 day extension and flew to Vietnam for a week and return to Bangkok and was given a very hard time about a 60 day non-Visa entry and they said they would not issue another one. It all depends on the immigration agent that you get., however with all the new Visa options they are really starting to crack down on border runs and 60 day re-entry

I give myself a budget of 10,000 baht per month for beers cannabis and taking my brother-.in-law’s out for a good meal Eazy-

I bring 3 million baht into Thailand every year but our family budget is about 1.4 million living a fantastic life style

Hi mate, retirement age in Thailand is 50 years old. Income is 800,000 baht per year on retirement Visa if married to a Thai born woman it is 450,000 baht per year.

@Darin *******
the 1-year EOS needs a minimum of 400,000 THB in your account and not 450.000 . . STOP GIVING WRONG ADVICE . .. . go away, troll elsewhere

@Darin *******
shut up if you can't give correct advice

@Darin *******
you are right, and that's why we cannot give him a warranty that his second visa-exempt entry will be accepted. To minimize the risk I recommended having the three proofs, just in case they will pull him aside. Hopefully they will accept the proofs, issue a last warning - last time! - and let him pass

67 years old and married to a Thai national you have no problems mate. You’re in if you don’t want to do the paperwork spend 5 to 10,000 baht with a Visa company.. if you can’t afford that you probably shouldn’t be looking at living in Thailand

@Darin *******
go troll elsewhere!

I live in Thailand on a Retirement extension for 17 years, I got 800,000 THB in my account and my yearly extension I get issued within 25 minutes . . . WTF why would you complicate the process?

if you want to live in Thailand as an expat it’s easier now than ever just apply for the right Visa and pay what is required by the immigration system. It’s not hard.

@Darin *******
suggestions needed, had thought retirement? I’m 67, as of Jan 14 I married my Thai girlfriend, not registered in Thailand yet! Just looking for thoughts on best visa?

l will transition from a retirement Visa to a marriage Visa with my Thai wife which has a lower threshold of income. It is very easy to live in Thailand if you follow the immigration laws however sometimes they are under the interpretation of the immigration officer you deal with. If you do everything correctly, the immigration officers are fantastic and more than willing to help real people. They want to live in Thailand for the betterment of Thailand.

yes l had all requirements for a retirement Visa in Thailand proof of earnings from overseas a bank account a drivers license and proof of residence. Sometimes it is hard for people under retirement age to provide all this information but now in Thailand they have given us so many options are special for people under retirement age.

Australians cannot get an affidavit of income from their embassy in Bangkok. You can get the 90-days Non-O retirement visa issued in your home country, using original income documents, but you cannot use these in Thailand! So the only way to apply for the 1-year Extension of Stay Permit based on Retirement on Immigration in Thailand, is using a deposit of a minimum of 800,000 THB in your Thai bank account, seasoned for two months. If you don't have the funds, pay an agents to "circumvent" it (pay a bribe to the Immigration) but be warned it will cost you dearly and you won't be able to get out of the agent hamster wheel so easily

@Greg **********
you are correct and have to do the immigration system as per the Thai government requirement

Russell Davies . . since you already maxxed out your first visa-exempt entry 60 days with a 30-days extension, be aware that the airline can ask you for an onward travel proof out of Thailand within the next 60 days after entry. And Thai Immigration CAN ask you for the three famous proofs - it all depends on your overall stamp history. The 3 proofs are: accomodation, onward travel and 20,000 THB in cash! Better be prepared
