I have a single entry tourist visa, which I assume grants 60 days in the country. Is it possible to extend my Visa upon arrival or do I need to wait to do so?

TLDR : Answer Summary
You cannot extend your single entry tourist visa immediately upon arrival. You must wait until you have 30 days or fewer remaining on your visa stamp before applying for an extension at most immigration offices.

You can apply for an extension at most immigration offices when you have 30 days or less left on your stamp. SO no you can't do it right after you arrive here.

Кіяк Бснцги yep, it's depending on the immigration office; Chiang Mai, Bangkok & Phuket will let you apply for a new extension when you have 45 days or less, most other offices will do it when you have 30 or less, and a few (Jomtien) will do it only when you have 15 days or less left.
