TIA in advance to all the great admin people who do an excellent job. I have posted about a month ago so may have 1-2 same questions but a few new ones. I am 62 yr old Canadian, got 1 yr O-A from Canada, then renewed it for another yr while here. That is over April 25, they said i have to leave the country and come back with 30 day TV, then can get an extension here in Korat for another 30 days. Tomorrow i go to Korat Immigration to do my last 30 day reporting, never do it online for some reason, so then i will ask them my questions as well, i know it will be busy. Can i get a 30 day at Immigration and not have to cross the border, only have 1 full page and a few 1/2 pages in my passport. Or even a 7 day one so i can decide my options? i know i should have went to Canadian Consulate long ago to get a new passport but thought i would go back there this summer, but no. also first lady at their office e-mailed me saying i can't transfer my new O-A from my old one to the new, then i phoned them and a different lady said they can do this, so confused with them. Thanks again to all.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, a 62-year-old Canadian, is seeking clarification on extending their O-A visa, which they renewed while in Thailand, and is unsure about the passport renewal process with the Canadian Consulate. They mention the requirement to leave Thailand to obtain a 30-day tourist visa and the confusion from varying information about visa extensions and passport transfers. From the comments, it appears that the user can extend their O-A visa within Thailand under certain conditions related to funds in a Thai bank account and health insurance, contrary to their previous understanding, suggesting a need for thorough clarification with immigration authorities.

You can extend your OA visa inside Thailand for as many years as you want without leaving the country. You just need bt800,000 in a Thai bank account in your name only for at least 2 months, and the required health insurance. If you don't meet both these requirements then you can't extend it. If you do meet these requirements then you can extend it for the rest of your life if you want. Who ever is telling you different is wrong.

Thanks very much to you 3- just to clarify, i have a few more questions-i am pretty sure Korat Immigration staff member told me a few months ago i could only renew 1 more time, which i did, meeting the requirements. Thinking i misunderstood her or she made a mistake. The office that has the 90 day reporting people is always empty or only 1-2 people, it's the other offices that will be crazy, so i will do my last 90 day report today there and if not much of a queue will ask them questions, if not go back in a few days, although i know this admin is excellent and will answer my questions correctly. And others. So it seems like only 2 choices are do the border bounce before the 25th of April to give me 30 days, or get an agent to get another yr for me if possible. Also will post again now to see if any Canadians or others, know for sure if Canadian Consulate can transfer my stamp from my old passport to my new one, when i get it, one staff e-mailed me and they cannot, then different lady in a phone call there said you can, why not she said?? Thanks guys.

You cannot get a 30 day extension, you have to leave unless you have a Thai wife or child
