I entered Thailand on a non-O visa in December. I am volunteering here. I am trying to figure out if it is possible for me to extend the non-O visa as it is the tourist visa,, for inability to travel due to Covid. Any ideas? Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking to extend their non-O visa in Thailand due to inability to travel caused by Covid, as they are currently volunteering. Comments indicate that the timeframe for applying for a Covid-related extension has ended, but they still have time to discuss options for continuing their volunteering activities. Additionally, it is noted that they can apply for a visa extension based on their volunteer work, but cannot change it to a tourist visa.

You still have more than a month with your current stamp. Still have time to talk with your organisation to continue your volunteering if you want.

Sadly for you, you are asking too late.. The current covid extension program <- the only thing that MIGHT have given you a 60 day extension ends today when the immigration office closes

AND

The new covid program that starts tomorrow specifically states that ANY Non-Imm visa holder cannot get a covid extension.

all you can do is GO to the immigration office this week and ASK them if you can get a 60 day covid extension (it's got nothing to do with a tourist visa <- you BUY one of those from a thai consulate in another country)...

I mean the worst they can say is no and then you'd leave the country when your current stamp runs out :/

You apply for the Extension of Stay based on being a volunteer as that is why you are inside Thailand.

You can not change to be a tourist.

You should have the work permit as you are almost 90 days in Thailand.

But no, without a work permit you can not work as a volunteer.

Thank you. Can I apply for an extension of stay without first applying for a work permit?
