Hello am wondering if it’s possible to cancel a non o volunteer visa right now and switch to a tourist visa as the person does not have their work permit to extend the non o as they only planned to volunteer for three months then leave before covid happened.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the possibility of canceling a Non-O volunteer visa to switch to a tourist visa due to not having a work permit for extension. Comments indicate that switching to a tourist visa within the country is not allowed, and suggestions revolve around following the news for any amnesty announcements.

And before this post gets hijacked, you know the answer,

I would say try to keep following the plan of staying 90 days inside Thailand, but if leaving is a problem, follow the news and see the new announcement on amnesty.

Are you on extension of stay or on visa itself?

They are on entry direct from Non-O volunteering, they can stay until the current stamp ends. Then need to leave the country since cannot get tourist status inside the country.

Normally.

Right now, there might be amnesty change, so just keep watch the latest update. IF amnesty is extended, that entry would be covered.

It’s not me I am asking for someone else. But they are on a Non O volunteer visa that they entered into Thailand the beginning of Feb and have until May 16 they haven’t extended it because they didn’t get a work permit as they didn’t plan to stay longer than three months of volunteering
