Hey! My ED visa is due for extension today. I’m leaving the country in 1 week (permanently) so only need a 7 day extension instead of the usual 90 day. Today I am trying to extend but My land lord is out of town and cannot sign or fill out the notification form for house master... do Americans get a free 30 days in Thailand without a fee? I only need to extend for 7 days. Should I just pay the overstay fee and stay? Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about extending their ED visa for 7 days since they are leaving Thailand permanently within a week. They faced a challenge because their landlord was unavailable to sign the required notification form. The community provided various responses: while a 7-day extension isn't typically available, it is possible to apply for a normal extension, which may lead to a 7-day grace period if not approved. Others confirmed the possibility of simply paying the standard application fee to get a short extension. Ultimately, the user was able to extend their stay by paying the application fee.

You can extend your ED for only 7 days. I did it and I just told them when I was there.

How the 7days stamp works is: You apply 'normal' extension of stay without meeting requirements of your reason of extension (like only TM7 form for ED extension or whatever), then application will be 'not approved' and usually IO would give you 7days to leave the country. You need to pay 1,900 thb fee for extension application.

Or do border run immediately to enter Thailand on visa exempt entry.

If you decide to be on overstay, you need to pay at exit point the fine of overstay 500thb/day and get overstay stamp if you successfully make to there.

Choice is yours.

I hope you try to tell that tomorrow is your last day as stamped in your passport as Admitted until .

If you can in using a Visa it depends on that Visa what kind of Extension of Stay you can apply for.

The 30 day Extension of Stay is only for people who entered the country without a Visa using the Visa Exempt Entry or the Tourist Visa.

There is no 7 days Extension of Stay.

If you landlord is not available does not really matter, you need to be registered within 24 hours after arrival at the address, not 24 hours before you need a stamp from Immigration. Just pay the fine and get your Extension of Stay, application fee is 1.900 Thb.

Or as you have the Non Immigrant ED visa, just ask a school employee to join you and make the normal application.

There is no 7 day Extension of Stay.

The form you show is a from you needed to fill in and hand over to Immigration within 24 hours after arrival at the address,

I do not believe you just arrived today at this address and after paying rent the owner disappeared to show up in india within minutes.

Face it, the files is not made in time, you pay the fine.

You can go to Immigration, ask if you can apply for an Extension of Stay, if yes, pay the 1.900 Thb, they will not approve the application and give you a big stamp in your passport: Application not approved, the application must leave the country before ../../..

I am on an ED visa but leaving earlier than a year, in fact I’m leaving in 7 days, so instead of extending for the normal 90 days, I only need to extend 7 days. But to do the extension, I need the following form filled out and the owner is in India for a week so I’m out of luck on that front.
