I have been living and working in Chiang Mai for the last 12 years, I have always gotten my non-immigrant B visa outside Thailand. At the moment I have a non-immigrant 3 months visa (single entry) and arrived on July 4th. I will need to extend my visa at the immigration. If I am granted a visa extension until July 3th 2022, and I am not able to return to Thailand (family visit in Europe) before July 3th. Am I able to apply for a new visa in Europe? I will still have a valid workpermit until Sept 2023. At the immigration do they usually extend the visa up to 1 year? Thank you for sharing your knowledge, Cat
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about their ability to apply for a new Thai visa from Europe after obtaining a visa extension in Thailand. They hold a non-immigrant B visa and a valid work permit until September 2023. The responses clarify that visas are issued based on individual consulate regulations and that extensions in Thailand can last up to one year but depend on the validity of the passport and work contract. If they obtain a one-year extension, it will start from their current visa's 'admitted until' date. They can travel to Europe and return to Thailand using a re-entry permit, but if they return after their visa expires, they must apply for a new visa.
