Hi group, I need some advice on student visa. I'm currently here from USA arrived Dec 7 and got 60 day extention stamp so now good until March 5. First question is there anyway to get an additional 30 days? I'd like to stay until April if possible.

Second question, I'm retirement age and could meet both the pension income(although not being deposited in thai bank yet) and 800,000 deposit requirement if I wanted to but I wanted to put that off for a while for personal reasons. Is it possible to get a student visa to learn thai language that would be good for a year and during that year I could be having my pension deposited into thai bank so I can then qualify in a year for retirement visa based on seasoning of deposits for 12 months which I'm being told is required? Would it make sense? If so who knows of least expensive but effective solution for student visa? Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary

Responses highlight the steps for obtaining a student visa, including enrolling in a school and obtaining the necessary documentation for visa applications and extensions, while also addressing the user's specific situation regarding their visa status and the potential for extending their stay.

Unfortunately (for you) this is a visa advice group not a "where can I get a cheap ED visa" group ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

So post on a f/b group related to where you live in thailand asking about schools OR google is your friend ๐Ÿ™‚

You should be able to find a school that will let you enroll, pay the tuition, get the documents and go apply for a 90 day Non-ED visa at the immigration office,

Then when that 90 days is running out they'd give you more documentation and you'd go apply for a 90 day extension.

You would do that every 3 months for the whole year you study.

As far as the long term plan for retirement

IF you started transferring in 65K baht a month each month every month for the next 12 months you'd have no problem applying for an in country 90 day Non-O visa based on being over 50 (retirement) and then the yearly extension of stay after that.

And if you deposit 800K thb in a Thai bank account, you don't have to keep it any days for you to apply for an in-country Non-O visa based on retirement.

You also need just two months to season your funds of 800K thb as banking money for your extension application based on being over 50.

Don't mix the requirements period for each method.

So when you showed up here you had NO visa in your passport and you were stamped in free for 30 days, right?

Then you went to the immigration office and they gave you a 60 day extension for 1900baht, correct?

If that is the case it sounds like you never took your 'regular' 30 day extension you get when you enter visa exempt and instead went straight to a 60 day covid extension.

You'd have to go to the immigration office where you stay and see if you could get the 30 day regular extension (which would be given 'out of sequence' because you normally get that BEFORE you get a 60 day extension). They can say no and then you could ask for another 60 day covid extension and see what they say about that.
