Will I be denied entry into Thailand after a recent long visit and subsequent short stay?

I spent 40 days in Thailand in Nov/Dec and 59 days in March/April. I plan to go to Thailand on 1st July after spending almost 2 months in Vietnam and I have a flight booked to Malaysia on 21st July (real one, not a temporary PNR reservation)

My worries stem from being questioned by the IO last time after she saw my flight to Vietnam was after 59 days.

Is it likely that I will get denied entry or am I overthinking it? The IO didn't explicitly say to get a visa next time but she did ask if I planned to come back to Thailand.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user plans to visit Thailand again soon after previous trips and is concerned about potential entry denial due to questioning by immigration officials. They have already booked a flight to Malaysia after a short stay. Comments suggest that while questioning may occur, their planned stay of 21 days should reflect genuine tourism, especially with proper documentation like proof of accommodation, cash, and an outbound ticket. Politeness and preparedness are advised to ease the process.

No issues.

The question likely come down to why you are spending so much time in Thailand. Are you a tourist or attempting to live/work in the country. Agree with the comment above. Have the three proofs ready and contact TVC if entry is questionable

It shouldn't be an issue, you might get questioned though. However... no one can say for sure as each IO is different and even then each person they see is different too.

Just make sure you have proof of accommodation, 20k in cash and a copy of your ticket out of thailand. If you really don't want to risk being denied you could always pay an agency like

Correct we ensure there are no misunderstandings upon entry.

The fee for this service ranges from 2-4k thb, and comes with fast track, and early tdac submission.

and keep in mind, politeness, sobriety, and a clean casual wear, wins symphaties of the border officials

Yeah makes sense. I had a nasty fall a day before I arrived in Thailand last time and had visible injuries on my forehead which probably didn't help my case 😂

you should be fine. You will probably be questioned, but since you won't maxx out the visa-exempt stay permit for its full extend of currently 60 days, staying only for 21 days before you fly to Malaysia, you should be regarded as a "real" tourist. However, for your own peace of mind, make sure you got two more proofs besides the onward travel ticket: 20,000 THB in Thai Baht or another main currency in CASH (no credit card!), and a proof of a few first nights of a booked accomodation in Thailand

Thanks for the detailed reply! Just another question: even though I'll be leaving in 21 days, I will receive a 60 day stamp, right? If my plans change (at most by a week) will it be an issue if I left on a different date than the one I'll put in TDAC?

the departure date is not mandatory to fill out in the TDAC. And it doesn't matter anyways, each visa-exempt entry will get you stamped in for 60 days, no matter what your onward travel proofs say
