Should my friend worry about applying for a tourist visa in Vientiane after multiple visa exemptions in Thailand?
Hello,
A friend of mine ( French citizen ) arrived here in Thailand in December 2017 on a visa exception , that he extended 30 days.
February 2018: he back to France for a couple of weeks and back on an exemption visa again, that he extended. Then he went to Cambodia and back by land on a visa exemption again.
Then he flies to France in July and stay there more than 2 months.
Back to Thailand in September on an exemption visa again, extended it and went to Vientiane, applied for a tourist visa that he got without any problem.
He would like to get an other tourist visa at Vientiane, and then back to France for 1 or 2 years for working.
He worry, coz at Vientiane's immigration: it's written " tourist visa " are for real tourist.
He doesn't work, as he get money every month from his unemployment.
Do he need to worry?
He might get some trouble if he apply for a tourist visa at Vientiane ?

Vientiane did put up and what I read yesterday took down a notice that they check the history of staying inside Thailand. Do people need to worry, I don't know. You apply for the visa, get it without problems, maybe get the warning stamp that next time a visa might get refused or the visa application get refused. At the moment I did not read of one report of denied visa application in Vientiane, but hat does not mean it happens. We can not tell, what the decision of their staff will be, we can advice about the requirements but nothing more.
