Hello, I am a foreigner and I have my Thai drivers license and I also have my residency certificate to purchase a motorbike. I want to buy a used motorbike. What documents to I need to make sure the seller gives me, so that I can transfer to my name at the DLT. I want to make sure I get all proper papers.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When buying a used motorbike in Thailand as a foreigner, ensure you receive the following documents from the seller: the transfer papers, the registration book (or Green Book), a signed copy of the seller's ID card or passport, and if the seller is Thai, a signed power of attorney along with their ID. Make sure all paperwork is completed in blue ink, and both you and the seller should visit an authorized title transfer location together. It's crucial to have a residency certificate from immigration to complete the transaction.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I feel much better in purchasing a motorbike.

3 documents: Greenbook signed, a copy of their ID card signed and with phone number written, and the transfer of ownership paper (this is a standard paper from the DLT, you can print it online.)

Yes, I have motorcycle license

Don’t buy it unless it has a green book, and you’ll need to both go to a authorized title transfer place

I see some of the advertisements say " All documents and transfer papers complete" but you are saying we both have to go to a title transfer place together?

@Jo**
, if they fill out the POA & you have a copy of their ID....they do not need to go to the transfer office.

Plus a copy of your passport and work permit if relevant

You will also need a Residency Certificate from Immigration.
