Hi!

I would like to do a border run from Hua hin on budget and wanted to ask if anyone has an experience if I can do the run over Land (Malaysia or Laos) on 1-2 days with the visa history of entering in December 04 -> 30 day exemption -> extended stay for another 30 days mid December until Feburary 1st.

Would be very thankful because I am not really sure if it’s possible same-day or with one night in Laos with the new rule.

All the best!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on doing a budget border run from Hua Hin, considering their visa history of entering Thailand on December 4 and extending their stay. Commenters provide insights indicating that same-day border runs are possible, especially to Laos, though some borders, particularly to Malaysia, may require an overnight stay. An alternative route to Myanmar from Ranong is also suggested as an easy option.

Maybe you can do a border run on same day return but if it’s from Hua Hin to Laos I don’t think the driver would Or Should be doing that

from Hua Hin, the shortest and easiest border run is done to Ranong, entering Myanmar by boat. It is 500.- THB on the Myanmar side, no overnight stay required. There are Visarun Companies in Hua Hin which take you there

Do you know a good one? I went to one they wanted 6800 Baht (but went to Burma) 😅I am thinking of just taking the boat by myself

try "Lime Tour Hua Hin", a friend of mine just used them 3 weeks ago, 5300.- THB per person (it is far (!!) an thus a bit costly

What new rule? There's no new rule.

Some borders in Malaysia are known to require an overnight stay but Laos borders are generally considered the easiest.

Really, I never heard of any border crossings that require an oversight stay not even Poipet, which some people claim is needed but it's not.

You might have to pay a premium to get out the same day but it'll be a nominal fee, 200-300bt, and maybe nothing if you're lucky

Poipet has an overnight rule for Visa Exempt, I fell foul of it 2 weeks after it was introduced

Last year, people had to stay up to three nights at the Malaysian border to enter Thailand again. They were travelling individual, everybody on a paid border bounce could turn back immediately.
