Hey! Border run advice needed. We have been in Thailand (Koh Phangan) nearly 60 days and want to do a border run to Myanmar. We want to do it by ourself without an agency. How long do we have to leave Thailand before coming back in? Are a couple of hours enough? Thanks for any help! 😊

Ranong very easy, boat to mynmar site for 700-1000thb, they make copies for you, give you 10usd banknote if you dont have, ranong IO very friendly and always without problem for me

Chiang Rai is easy but far for you. Can get a 15 day temporary passport at Myanmar side, Myanmar immigration keep your passport. Return same day if you wish or stay Myanmar side. Depends on your eligibility for 30 day visa exempt.

For the Ranong - Burma visa run make sure you have crisp $10 USD bill for each person, that's required. Maybe photos on white background also, cant remember - research.
dont need photos, 10usd or 500thb, copies of passport can get on myanmar side

It is actually quite easy to do yourself. Get to the pier go to the immigration check out kiosk. Find a boat that will take you across (actually they’ll find you). You need 2 copies of your passport data page and a crisp (as in unused) $10 note for the Myanmar side. Takes about 30 minutes on the boat. When stamped in to Myanmar they give you 10-15 mins so you can visit the duty free shops then the boat will bring you back. Price of the boat will vary depending how many of you there are and your negotiating skills.

For the peace of mind I would go with a visa run company as if something happen the driver would sort everything for you.
Just went there last Saturday, lucky for me the driver was there to sort an unexpected problem that I had to pay extra 1,000b to the IO pocket.
In the end all worked out fine.( After I paid) 😄😄

Keep in mind SOME nationalities are asked for proof of funds (20K baht or the equivalent in CASH) and can be asked for proof of onward travel when stamping back in to thailand. Whether you will be asked or not I don't know..
I was asked to show cash on hand last year as I didn’t have it on me,they made me buy an outward ticket while in front of them,I just got a fake ticket and voila all sorted.
I advise them to take cash and outward flight ticket to avoid hiccups🙏🏽
You go to the Ranong border with Burma. There are more than a few visa run services there that will arrange to lug you guys over to Ranong, bounce you out and back and then bring you back to your island.
Post on the Koh Phangan F/B group you'll get answers for sure
. Just to confirm, I'm in Ko Phanghan... I think the border run companies go the Ranong border. That doesn't appear to be on the list of Available Port of Entries.
Thanks! We actually want to do it ourselveas as we found its not that cpmplicated. We are only wondering how long we actually have to leave Thailand before coming back in.
