I need to do a border hop to Laos to extend my tourist Visa I've already had a 30 day extension from udon immigration but I'm hearing stories that Laos aren't allowing foreigners to enter due to the covid 19 outbreak, can anyone shed any light on this ? I've looked all over the internet but I'm seeing all different things like if you have a temperature you get quarantined for 2 weeks in Vientiane so any advice would be welcome... thank you ๐

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice about doing a border hop to Laos for extending their tourist visa, amidst concerns over COVID-19 restrictions. Commenters advise that borders are reportedly open and that exiting to re-enter will only grant a 30-day visa exemption, not an extension.
commenting to follow the replies. i need the same information as well.

Also just so YOU know, you aren't gonna extend ANY visa by bouncing out and back at a border :O All you're gonna get is a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp.
AND you won't be going IN to VIentiane (which is 14 km from the Nong Khai border crossing :O

Do Thais give 30 days for land crossings? it was 15 days at 1 point...
I know mate I wouldn't usually listen to daft rumours but I know Vietnam are refusing entry by rd etc and people are stuck on the border and with all this hysteria with covid 19 you don't know what to believe
