Is it better to fly or do a land crossing to Vientiane for a visa extension in Thailand?

Quick question. Currently I am on my first 30 extension for my Visa. The stamp says that I must leave the country on the 23rd of this month. Is it smarter to fly to Vientiane or is it smarter to do a land crossing to Vientiane. As far as I know, you are only allowed to fly out and then come back in and get 30 Visa which can be extended for a further 45 days. I was told that a land crossing only permits you five days, once you come back in the country. However, somebody else told me that you can get 90 days, by doing your land crossing as well. Please help me discover the appropriate way to handle this.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on whether it is better to fly or take a land crossing to Vientiane for a visa extension. They are currently on a 30-day visa extension that requires them to leave Thailand by the 23rd of the month. Conflicting information has been shared regarding the type of entry allowed when returning to Thailand; some say flying allows a 30-day visa that can be extended for 45 days, while others suggest a land crossing might allow for a longer stay. Commentary from other users clarifies that land border entries can result in a 45-day stay with the possibility of a 30-day extension and mentions logistical details about borders currently open to foreigners.

Please disregard the bottom listed groups of without a visa.. thank you. There's change in it.

Myanmar and Cambodia are STILL 14 days.

However all other info is Correct

I haven’t seen a better replacement, but the section “without a visa” is not true anymore.

Your mod team are great at answering the questions. I’m just pointing out that the infographic is outdated and perhaps best not to use anymore.

Pardon me but if took time to read posts on the forum you would know the answer to your questions.

Anyway....

You are allowed TWO Land BORDER entries into Thailand...

Called border runs or bounce.

Each time you enter Thailand by land... from October 1 thru March 31 2023 you are STAMPED in for 45 days... Plus you can get ONE 30 day extension of stay for 1900 Thai baht at local Thai immigration office. = 75 days stay.

Myanmar land borders are CLOSED to foreigners.

But Land BORDERS are open from Laos, Cambodia and Malaysia. If you are going to use Cambodia avoid Poipet.
