TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the possibility of converting a TR (Tourist) visa to a NON-B (Business) visa while currently outside Thailand, expressing urgency due to a job offer. The responses indicate that converting a TR visa to a NON-B visa is feasible but depends on the employer's readiness to provide necessary documentation and the specific immigration office's requirements. It is noted that while it's generally easier to obtain a NON-B visa from one's home country, it is still possible to do so within Thailand under certain conditions.

Yes. You can come into Thailand on a TR Tourist Visa and then change the visa in the country into a NON-B visa, that is, if your future employer is willing to provide the extensive documents requested by Thai Immigration for doing so. It is a little less paperwork involved when getting a NON-B outside of the country, but it is certainly possible inside the country as well. Enclosed, find a list of supporting documents required that was handed to me to change visa from TR for teaching at university on a NON-B. Handed to me by Chiang Mai Immigration Office.

Should you want to be working for a private company, be prepared to show a lot of additional documents as well, e.g. images of your future work place and crazy things like this. Also, requirements might differ from immigration office to immigration office.

With Thai authorities, bureaucracy meets inconsistency of requirements.

Also, here is the link of the official form to use for change of visa from TR to any NON-Immigration Visa:

This is how you get the Non b and visa as a teacher...and the CoE to enter Thailand....

Thousands of teachers have followed this and are now in Thailand teaching... During the COVID crisis.

As a teacher do yourself a favor...

Get a teachers contract..

Get the WP3 Thai work permit in cooperation with your school employer...

Have your school contact the Thai Ed Ministry to get your name placed on a list of teachers managed by the Thai Foreign Ministry...

Make application for the Non B visa for teaching ...

The Thai Embassy will look at the approved list and issue you a Non B for teaching and a CoE to enter Thailand.

It would not that difficult for companies (employers) to prepare required documents for the in-country process. In-country Non-B s not such a special approach.

But we don't know if he wants to be a teacher though :(

then he is out of luck IMHO.

Issuing a Non b for business will be even more difficult.

Requiring added documentation by the applicants employer of the economic importance to the employer and the urgent need for him to return now to Thailand to carry on and needed in the job.

, from my personal point of view, if he is seeking to be hired by a company, not being a teacher, the possibility of the in-country process is much more higher than for teachers.

You will not get a Non-B outside Thailand unless you are applying from your own country.

Is that a new change?

Not sure , I read a comment from an employment agency. Saying "they can't process the documents" , maybe something to do with the police clearance who knows?

That would be between your employer and the immigration office. ASK your future employer what they want you to do.

The requirements to get a Non-B inside Thailand are much higher then getting a Non-B outside.

IF you are entering as a teacher, I believe they are not doing Non-B visas inside Thailand anymore for teachers.

I debated with myself to let this post on or not, and after thinking about it, I decided to approve this post.

what is the issue?I am applying for a job and the job needs me on time.. Without being on time, there is no job. So I have to struggle to find a solution. I have worked before in Thailand, for 3 years and i couldn't return in July of 2020 Bcz of no flights from Europe, so I lost my job.. And I was keeping my home there paying my duties, finally sold my stuff.. Don't be so strict, you are a foreigner too.All we are trying to do the best..

>what is the issue?I

The reason why I debated to approve this post or not is because there really isn't much advice anyone can give you; it's something you have to talk to your employer about. If they know what the Thai Embassy of China requires for a Non-B, they can give you the paperwork. If you're trying to teach, I have not heard of anyone getting a Non-B inside Thailand since they made a change.

It's a question that only you and your employer should know. I know if I was hiring an employee overseas, I was preparing documents to get them their visa, and they decided to go to Thailand without letting me know, I would be furious because of the different requirement in paperwork.
