Hello everyone! A question for a friend of mine: She has a NON-B and a work permit which will be cancelled in May. Can she transform it to a TR visa without leaving the country or extend it somehow?

Thanks in advance for your cooperation! πŸ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question pertains to whether a friend holding a NON-B visa and work permit, which will be cancelled soon, can transition to a TR visa without exiting Thailand. Comments highlight that she cannot apply for a tourist visa while in Thailand and that a COVID extension is also not possible due to her current visa status. If she is looking to obtain a new NON-B visa for a different job, cooperation with her employer and immigration is essential. Ultimately, if no options are available to extend her stay, she would need to leave Thailand and apply for the appropriate visa from an embassy or consulate.

Anyone who have been on one of these entries or visas cannot get a COVID extension. But can get a denied extension stamp with 7 days to leave Thailand

...She cannot get a tourist visa while inside Thailand.

...As she already has been on a Non Immigrant visa...she cannot get a COVID extension.

...if she has a new job...that will require close cooperation of her employer and Thai immigration to allow a new Non B inside Thailand.

...if not possible then she must leave Thailand and if returning ...get the correct visa for her stay from a Thai Embassy or Consulate.

Good Luck to her.

IF your friend already visited Immigration Office for a new stamp with the text Extension of Stay permitted up to xx/xx/xx, than this stamp has to be cancelled by your friend on the last day of working. This can be done in advance, your friend can apply for a new Extension of Stay if your friend can meet any of the requirements, otherwise the new application will be not approved and your friend will get 7 days to leave the country. Make sure to tell your friend that the work permit must be cancelled at the last day of working at the Ministry of Labor.

That varies depends on what reason your friend want to stay. Not tourist, but working for another another company, marriage to a Thai, etc.

You can find β€œgeneral” information about requirements for extensions here.

Ask your friend what you call a Non B and Work Permit.

IF your friend is in Thailand during the first 90 days from entry, your friend can stay until the last day mentioned in the stamp Admitted to Stay xx/xx/xx.

Your friend can not apply for a tourist visa inside Thailand.
