Sure. Cancel the DTV, enter on Visa Exempt. Apply for the Retirement "O" and you will get 90 days. Then after about a month or 6 weeks apply for the 12 month extension.

You can convert the DTV to a Non-O based on retirement at your local immigration office in just the same way as you can for other tourist entries
