TLDR : Answer Summary
The question asks about eligibility for a DTV visa given that the asker has a Thai wife and children in Thailand while working abroad. The responses clarify that the DTV visa is primarily for remote workers or those involved in soft power. It is also noted that having a Thai family does not directly affect eligibility. The general consensus is that the Non-O visa based on marriage may be a more suitable option despite challenges in renewal.
Pals got DTV under similar circumstances. Used their UK Ltd building company as remote work. Soft power route is also an option.

As you don't work remotely from Thailand the workation option is our. They may not want to give you one based on soft power due to your extended periods away for work but you can try. The Non-O based on marriage is the best visa for you

Dtv is just a visa, not about your status. You need to match the criterias

DTV has nothing to do with having a Thai family. Three options for DTV: remote worker, soft power, or a dependent/family member of someone else who has a DTV
