TLDR : Answer Summary
A user visited the Amnat Charoen immigration office to extend their non-O visa based on their age of over 50. They inquired about changing the reason for their extension due to an upcoming marriage or obtaining a shorter extension than a year. The officer stated that both requests were not allowed. A comment from another user confirmed that if a reason change is desired (e.g., from retirement to marriage), it must be done at the time of renewal.

Yep, that is totally common, if you're on a retirement extension and want to do a reason change to an extension based on marriage you have to wait until it comes up for renewal and do it then..

only one I've seen them do like that is one going the other way, from marriage to retirement when you get divorced ๐ฎ
That's because your extension ends when you signed the divorce decree so they let you apply for a new retirement extension "out of sequence"
