Can I change my ED visa to a student visa in Thailand without leaving the country?

If I enter Thailand on an ED visa for studying Thai language and am subsequently accepted into a master’s program at a University, is it possible to apply for the necessary visa changes without leaving the country?

I was supposed to start my MBA in Bangkok next month but backed out due to personal reasons. Now I want to spend an extended amount of time “living” in the city to ensure I am truly willing to commit the next 2 years of my life to it. Hoping to experience this and start school (if that’s the path I choose) before May.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, it is possible to apply for a visa change in Thailand without leaving the country, provided you meet the requirements for the new visa. For transitioning from an ED visa to a student visa for a master's program, it's recommended to consult with immigration authorities or a visa consultant for specific details and procedures. Additionally, forums like Expat Money Forum can offer helpful guidance for expatriates.
