DTV question. If a company based in Japan were to hire me to attend events in SE Asia on their behalf, including public appearances in Bangkok, would this be allowed as per DTV guidelines around working in Thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus is that while you may attend events as a participant under a DTV, actively representing a company or engaging with Thai clients is considered work, which is not permitted under the DTV guidelines. To qualify for a DTV, you typically need to demonstrate remote work, enrollment in specific courses, or a medical treatment plan.
I would say this is not allowed under the DTV scheme. You can't interact with Thai companies or Thai clients and by the sounds of things you would be doing both.
Allowed to attend the meetings as a PARTICIPANT on a DTV, sure. But that alone ISN'T a reason for them to approve you a DTV. You need either a remote work (is yours remote?), enrollment in soft power courses or a medical treatment plan.
