I applied to and received a DTV visa through the soft power route, since I’m not yet making a lot of money as a freelancer. Now I see that it says on my visa under remarks: ‘employment not allowed’. I was hoping to continue working for non-Thai clients. Can someone please confirm that even soft power visa holders are allowed remote work? I’m also unsure now what to put on my tdac.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the possibility of working remotely for non-Thai clients while holding a DTV visa under the soft power category, which explicitly states ‘employment not allowed’. Comments from the community indicate that while DTV visas generally prohibit work, online remote work for foreign companies outside Thailand is permitted. However, specific interpretations suggest that remote work may be restricted depending on the nature of the clients and companies involved.
I asked this question to Thai embassy in berlin - if you’re under DTV for soft power you are not allowed to work remotely. It’s solely workation category if you work remotely, under soft power you’re not supposed to work. That’s the theory ☺️
You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.
Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days
All DTV visas are work prohibited, meaning you can not get a work permit and work for a Thai company or for Thai clients. Online remote work for companies/ clients outside Thailand is however permitted.
