Hallo everyone.

I am in thailand by my own sail boat right now, but want to apply for the dtv Visa (Digital nomad).

Can I leave Thailand to Malaysia (Langkawi) and apply for the Thai e-visa in Germany, munich from there?

And if yes: Can I already apply when I have the exit stamp from Thailand in my passport? Or do I need to wait for the entry stamp from Langkawi?

(I will be around one week on the water, sailing vom Phuket to Langkawi...and want to use the Transit time already for the apply process).

You must be in the country and jurisdiction covered by the embassy you wish to apply at. So no, you can't go to Malaysia and apply through the German embassy. You need to wait for the entry stamp into Malaysia before you submit your application to the Thai embassy in Malaysia.

I think you Information is only partly right. I am german, and because of this I can apply in Germany at the Thai embassy also when I am not physically there. I have this Information from a agent who does this every day....

I think you are right for other countries, what are not my home country, or?

here's a screen grab from the thai consulate in London clearly saying you have to be IN the UK to apply thru the eVisa website

- Here is an example from the Thai embassy in Romania. It clearly states that Romanians in Thailand or outside of Romania can not apply via the embassy in Romania. Under your argument, a Romanian in Malaysia can apply via Romania, which is a clear contradiction.

NO!! you have to physically be IN the country of the thai consulate you're applying for the visa thru 🙁

So if you're leaving thailand you have to stamp IN to Malaysia then you could apply at one of the consulates in Malaysia based on where you are in that country (what port you dock at)

I think you're not correct and that agent is gaming the system to get visas for people by not following the rules 😮

You have to physically be IN the country whose consulate you apply thru

doesn't matter if it's your country or not you can't NOT be there when you apply

you can not apply through the embassy/consulate in Germany if you are not physically in Germany no matter what someone tells you. You can try , but when you are asked for a copy of every page in your passport, to check the entry stamps, and exactly what country you are physically in. It will be a bt10,000 mistake when you try it. Being German has no special privileges for the DTV requirements.

The e-visa application clearly asks where you are physically located. You can try to scam the site and say you are in Germany, which is what the agent is telling you to do
