Can I apply for the DTV visa at the Thai Embassy in the Netherlands without being registered in the BRP?

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to fly to the Netherlands to apply for the DTV visa and was wondering if anyone has recent experience applying there.

I'm Dutch, but I've been living in Indonesia for several years and currently have a 2-year temporary residence permit (KITAS). I contacted the Thai Embassy in Jakarta, but they told me I need a permanent residence permit (KITAP) to apply there.

I still have an address in the Netherlands, but I'm no longer registered in the BRP.

I can provide my Dutch passport, a Dutch bank statement showing my address, and a Dutch mobile phone bill.

Has anyone recently applied for a DTV in the Netherlands without being registered in the BRP? Did the embassy specifically ask for a BRP extract, or were other documents accepted?

For DTV the rule is you should apply where you have long stay or citizenship. Since you are Dutch you can apply in The Hague even if you are not in BRP now. The Thai embassy in The Hague usually asks for proof you are Dutch and proof of address in Netherlands, so Dutch passport plus bank statement with Dutch address and phone bill can work. Many people who live outside Netherlands do this and get approved.

The embassy sometimes asks for a BRP extract called uittreksel, but not always. If they ask and you do not have it you can explain you live in Indonesia on KITAS and you still have Dutch address and bank. Some applicants bring a letter from family or a rental contract in Netherlands to help. Since you have Dutch passport they are more flexible than Jakarta where they want KITAP for foreigners.
