Hi everyone,

I’m planning to go to Thailand in March with a tourist visa. If I really like it there, I might want to apply for the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV).

My question is: Can I apply for the DTV visa from a nearby country and return to Thailand to activate it? Or do I have to go back to my home country (France), which would be quite expensive for a round trip?

Thanks in advance for your help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is planning to visit Thailand on a tourist visa and is considering applying for the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV). They seek clarification on whether they can apply for the DTV from a nearby country or if they must return to their home country, France. Responses indicate that it's possible to apply for the DTV from a neighboring country, where they would need to upload necessary documents online and wait for approval, rather than returning to France.

why don't you apply right away for DTV if you meet the requirments ? and skip the tourist visa.

Why don't you just apply in France easier from your home country and then you have it saves time and money

You can apply from a nearby country. You don’t need to return to France but you do need to be in the country you’re applying from even though it’s all online applications these days.

you go to a nearby country, apply online thru the thai consulate in that country, upload the proof you're there (visa/entry stamp), upload the documents, pay and then wait in that country for the visa to be approved and you to get the email with the PDF (that is your visa)

you print that out and then come back to thailand
