Can I sell products online while on a Digital Nomad visa in Thailand, and what are the chances of visa rejection if applying for the Non-O Retirement visa without an agent?

Hi everyone! 👋

I’ve been reading through some posts here and I have a few visa questions I hope someone can help with:

For the DTV (Digital Nomad) visa — is it allowed to sell products online while living in Thailand? Some people say it’s not allowed to work or sell, others say it’s okay as long as your income comes from outside Thailand. Which is correct?

For the Non-O Retirement visa — if I apply by myself (not using an agent), is the chance of rejection high?

Thanks so much in advance for sharing your experience or advice! 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
Inquiring about the Digital Nomad visa (DTV) in Thailand, the user seeks clarification on whether selling products online is permissible while residing in the country. Community responses indicate that selling or engaging in business with anyone in Thailand is prohibited; however, earning income from outside Thailand is allowed. Regarding the Non-O Retirement visa, feedback suggests that applying without an agent is generally safe, with few chances of rejection if applicants meet requirements. Users advise on necessary financial preparations and suggest using local immigration offices for assistance.

I applied for my non-OA retirement visa in the US using my Social Security income to meet the 65k baht income minimum, background check ordered online, health insurance purchased through a Thai company and a simple health certificate. Done in less than ten days time. No agent required.

No transactions to/from Thailand. No Thai business partnerships or sales relationships. No Thai customers or suppliers. No shipping in or out of Thailand.

If you are eligible, go for the non-o visa. Rare to get rejected unless you lie while applying or use fraudulent documentation.

This is a tricky question to answer

Are you going to do anything that will leave a footprint in Thailand like sending packages etc?

Or will you do a drop shipment style from your country of origin where you have the right to work and pay taxes on it?

I don’t have a real business …I just want to understand the rules first. So now I understand that with the DTV visa, I am not allowed to sell things or do business targeting people in Thailand, whether locals or foreigners.

DTV must be issued outside of Thailand. For the Non O based on retirement this can be done at most local immigration offices. You don’t need an agent. Put the ฿800K in your Thai bank account and get the handout of the other requirements from the local immigration office.

If you work ONLY outside of Thaialnd no problem.

You cannot do business with anyone in Thailand.

As far as rejection , there is really only not qualifying.

They want us here just prepare.

As long as you are prepared you will get the visa on your own just as well as with an agent.

The biggest challenge is the bank account now.

Best advice enter with the 90 day non-o visa based in being over 50.

Apply on the evisa site based on money in your home country(or wherever).

Then open an account and transfer the funds.

No reason you cannot do yourself .

okay this is where I can help you. You will apply at room 103 for the visa. BUT If you go in the main doors up to room 204 there is an information desk with foreigners that can walk you through the requirements and provide you with a sheet and answer any questions. .You can download the phuket specific requirements at piv-phuket.com with the current correct requirements. If you need help you may DM me directly and I can answer any Phuket specific details

Can I ask why I need to have at least 15 days left on my current visa before applying for the 90-day Non-O visa?

I just arrived in Thailand a few days ago. Usually, we get a 2 month tourist visa, and I plan to extend one more month. So, do I start applying in the third month? Is that correct?
