Getting all my docs ready to apply in Vietnam. Would love to stay with friends in Hoi An while we're waiting for our approval.

I don't physically need to be in Hanoi or HCM, right?

I just need proof that I'm in Vietnam - boarding pass, stamped passport, receipts...

Kind advice only. 🙏

Answer summary

The user is seeking clarification on whether they must be physically present in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City to apply for a visa after preparing their documents while staying with friends in Hoi An. Comments suggest that it is possible to stay in Hoi An and apply through Ho Chi Minh City instead, provided they have proof of their stay in Vietnam.

Correct, you can fly into Da Nang, stay in Hoi An and apply via HCMC with your docs :)

If you are staying in Hoi An, you apply via HCMC, not Hanoi
