TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the possibility of applying for an OA visa extension early along with new health insurance to mitigate a premium increase from age 60 to 61. Comments suggest applying for an extension 30 to 45 days in advance, consider alternatives to the OA visa to avoid insurance requirements, and note the timing of insurance renewal can affect premium calculations.

Just be aware that the insurance company may not base their premiums on the actual date of your birthday but the year you turn a certain age. You birthday may be on say 31 Dec 2023, but if your policy is due for renewal on 01 Jan 2023 then your age on 31 Dec 2023 will be applied to the policy premium and not your current age at the date of 01 Jan 2023 renewal

Health insurance doesn’t have to be expensive, have a look on Mr Prakan for your coverage.

That’s like $875 USD per year. Crazy cheap since I’m paying almost $1600 a month in USA w a $8000 USD deductible.

You can apply for an extension when you have 30 days left in most offices, or 45 days in Bangkok and Chiang Mai.

You could also explore some options to get off the non-OA and drop the insurance requirement altogether.
