A question for O-A visa extension renewal with health insurance. My extension will finish the same day as my health insurance (That’s what immigration do 🤷‍♂️).

I assume this is the same for everyone.

My question is have people renewed their insurance early to get the visa extension early? Done it on the cut off day? How?

My insurers claim that this years renewal notice is enough to show immigration.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses concerns around renewing the O-A visa and associated health insurance in Thailand, specifically regarding the timing of insurance renewal and its impact on visa application. Users share their experiences with different immigration offices' requirements, noting that not all policies are accepted, and some have had to pay agents to avoid complications. The central question is whether it’s acceptable to renew insurance early to align with the visa extension process.

I renewed with AETNA about 2 weeks before the actual renewal date. I pay monthly and they wanted the first instalment up front to issue the new certificate. Subsequent monthly payments have been on the usual date. One change this time was they also wanted a copy of the AETNA membership card, showing the applicable dates of cover. Unfortunately Chonburi Immigration does not accept your proposal. They want to see the ridiculous certificate stating the 40,

,000 baht coverage. Actual Policies from AETNA are not acceptable without the required certificate. I am already insured for one million baht inpatient and have more than required in the bank for the 40,000 outpatient insurance which I cannot even use because they looked at my hospital outpatient records without my approval. Not even claimed on their policy. It is all just another rip off. My expat friends are using Pattaya Agents and getting their renewals without any insurance certificates. They are paying about 10,000 baht to Agents and my outpatient AETNA policy for 40,000 baht is costing me 32,000 baht per annum. Go figure. I guess corruption pays in the long term ? Even though I have never used an Agent

when you renew your insurance it will start on the same date the current one expires so you don't lose coverage.

Take BOTH policies with you, the one that shows you're insured last year and the one that shows you're insured THIS coming year after the current policy expires.
