Hi! Is there any way to apply for a visa once I’m already in the country? As an Australian I have 30 days visa free but want to extend my stay, I’m unsure if I’m able to do that online or have to go to an immigration office. If so, where is best to go in Phuket?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, as an Australian, you can apply for a visa extension while in Thailand. You are eligible for a one-time 30-day extension at your local immigration office. This can be done at several locations in Phuket, including the Patong Beach office, Blue Tree water park office, or the main Phuket Town office. You will need to pay 1900 baht and provide a passport-sized photo, your passport, an appropriate application form, and your proof of residence. If you plan for a longer stay, such as applying for a NON-O visa, there are certain financial requirements based on age or marital status.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.

that form will be in the back of the line. Bring a passport sized photo with you. Hand them your passport and the application and photo and they glue stick the photo and give you a number. Walk 30 feet and wait for your number on a sign board. Give them everything and in about 10 minutes they hand back stamped passports. You’ll pay 1900 baht in cash in the interview office. Get there before they open.

You can extend your stay with another 30 days at the local immigration. For visa in country these are the demands.

As to where in Phuket, if you’re applying for a 30 day extension you can use the Patong Beach office or Blue Tree water park office as well as the main Phuket Town office. If it’s for a long term extension then you’d have to use the Phuket Town office.

If you're over 50 you can apply for a non-O visa with 800,000 baht in your Thai bank account.

If you're married to a Thai you can apply for a non-O visa with 400,000 baht in your Thai bank account.

If you're talking about a tourist visa, then no, you cannot apply for it inside of Thailand and you wouldn't be able to use it inside of Thailand either.

If you entered visa exempt then you can apply one time for a 30-day extension at your local immigration office.
