Hello, a simple question:

I want to apply for a caring child visa, i m not married but I have all the requirements (I event went to the court to obtain the document of parental authority sharing with my ex gf)

Can I go to immigration alone without my ex to apply? Or need she sign some documents too?

Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual inquired about applying for a caring child visa (90-day Non-O visa) in Thailand without their ex-girlfriend's presence. Several commenters noted that while a legal document granting parental authority is necessary, sole custody is not a requirement. One user suggested checking with the local immigration office for specific documentation needed, as past experiences indicated varying requirements regarding the ex-partner's signature. Overall, it seems possible to proceed without the ex's signature if legal parental rights are established.

I have a dependancy Visa based on a non o visa but you must have sole custody to be granted this

it is a non o visa but based on caring for a child who has Thai nationality I had to prove i have sole custody

You should only require the legal parental rights before you are issued an extension of stay based on raising half-Thai child. Which immigration office said you must have full custody of the child to have an extension of stay based on raising a half-Thai child?

@Benjamin *****
You need legal parental rights for a NON O and also for a yearly extebsion, but not sole custody.

A dependency visa, or an extension of stay based on rasing half-Thai children?
Toti ********
I live and applied it in Phuket

Anyway as I told my son will turn 20 next month
Tod *********
you were being told the incorrect amount, it's clearly stated as 400K baht not 500K :(
Stuart **********
I have the same extension of stay from Phuket and assure you that immigration here ask for 400k not 500k in the bank
Benjamin ******
@Stuart *********
If they want 500K THB in the bank for an extension of stay based on raising half-Thai children (and *NOT* an extension of stay based on supporting a foreign child at an international school), file an appeal.

@Stuart *********
asked them several times and always answered me 500k

On the last

years I did it alone but before they always requested the signature of my son’s Mather in front of them

@Toti *******
what is the child's visa status?
Toti ********
@Benjamin *****
my son will turn 20 next month the mother is Thai and he is a Thai citizens

@Toti *******
you can't get yearly extensions based on supporting half thai children once the child hits 20 y/o :(
Toti ********
Right,last time I got only 5 months and my visa will and at my son birthday
Tod *********
@Toti *******
yep, that's usually what they do the last time ;) they give you an extension until the child's 20th b/day..
Benjamin ******
@Toti *******
I didn't think you can get an extension of stay based on raising half Thai child if the child is over 20 years old.

However, if the immigration office wants to see 500K THB in a savings account for that type of extension of stay, stand your ground and ask to see the rules. If they say no, then file an appeal.

You need to first apply for the 90 day Non-O visa based on being the parent of a half thai child and that requires you show 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only transferred in from overseas OR a letter from your embassy stating you get 40K baht a month in income OR legally working here and getting paid a salary of 40K baht a month.

Go to your immigration office and get the hand out that lists the requirements as far as the documents you need to apply for the 90 day Non-O visa based on taking care of your half thai child. You do that, get the 90 day visa then when that runs down you apply for the yearly extension.

You WILL need the document from family court that grants you legal parental rights for sure, BUT again go to the immigration office you use to get the list of requirements

@Tod ********
as tutor they requested to me 500k

@Toti *******
they only require 500K baht if you are getting a visa/extension based on raising foreign children not half thai ones

Thanks
@Tod ********
, I have all requirements but my question is : can I go apply alone without the mother of my child?
Michael ********
@François ******
You may need the mother, but you DO have legal parental rights. You should be able to go with your child and apply by yourself and all of the documents, blue book for the kid, etc. Check at your local IO, as you never really know what they will want when it comes to kids.
