Can anybody confirm that the document from the ampur which will say that my soon to be ex wife and me are divorced and we both have sole custody of 1 each of the children will be sufficient for immigration to renew my visa based on supporting thai child which is what i currently have, last time my wife was helpful in providing the documents i needed, id,house paper, pics etc

This time she said wont help, which is sods law as been having that visa 15 years and only need 1.more renewal before im.eligable.for a retirement visa, so no help needed from her.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks confirmation on whether the document from the ampur (local administrative office) indicating their divorce and joint custody of children will suffice for renewing their Thai visa, which is currently based on supporting a Thai child. Previous assistance from their spouse is no longer available, raising concerns about the required documentation for the visa renewal process.

IF you find yourself in a time crunch..

It may be possible to get a 60 day family visit extension of stay at your local Thai Immigration office..

I would imagine the divorce decree and the paper stating you share custody would suffice BUT I see a trip to your immigration office well before your extension is due to find out from them and make sure you can round up the documents you might need

Just so we're clear, you now have an extension based on raising a thai child right?

Not one based on marriage to a thai <- that's a critical thing because if you're on a marriage extension it's done the day you sign the divorce decree.

yes based on thai children, although when we did it we had to provide marriage certs and stuff with the paperwork

I went and saw the person who does my visa today and she tells me that if getting a divorce you need to be sole custody of at least 1 of them to renew your visa, which is kinda ironic as we legally (according thai law) share custody now as we still married

You will need the official documentation stating you have joint custody.

If you used a Thai legal professional for your divorce they should be able to help you with the documents that immigration will need when you get that information from immigration before signing the final decree of divorce.

i am under the impression that no1 you need to have full custody not just joint and if both parties agree on everything then it can be done at the ampur rather than needing thai lawyers

Your impression may be true or false, a visit your local Thai immigration office should be on your calendar soon to get the correct information from the most knowledgeable people to maintain your legal status in Thailand.

I see a trip to your immigration office in your near future BEFORE you sign that divorce decree ๐Ÿ™‚
