Can I apply for a DTV visa as a freelancer without a registered business?
Good morning everyone!
I'm working remotely as a freelancer, but I don't have a registered business. I have my own website and clients though.
Do you think I can apply for a DTV visa?
Also, in your opinion, is it better to apply in person or online? What do they actually check during the process?
What documents would I need to prove that I'm working remotely?
And one more thing — if they reject the application, do you lose the 10k THB fee?

Yes you can apply but as well as showing your clients and income they may also want to see that you are registered in the tax system, ie that you pay tax on your income.

There is no such thing as applying in person anymore. ALL Thai visas are applied for through the online e-visa platform. You must be physically inside of the country whose embassy you are applying through online.
What is required varies by each embassy because the embassy sets the requirements. Check the website of the embassy you want to apply through for that embassy's requirements.

Thank you. I'm asking more about practical information based on experience. As we all know, each embassy has different requirements and each official has different ones 😁Why do I have to be in the country where the embassy is? Can you point to such a regulation? There is no mention of it on the official website.

Yes. The fact that the e-visa application specifically asks for your CURRENT LOCATION as part of assigning you the embassy, and that one of the questions in the application is PROOF OF CURRENT LOCATION. Many embassies are now requiring extra proof, for example calling you in for an interview after a few days to ensure that not only are in the country, but you are STILL in the country. Many have also started asking for things like a signed and dated letter from the management of the hotel you are staying to prove you are still in the country.You are required to physically in the country, and to remain in the country until your visa is issued.

basically they treat an online application in exactly the same way they used to treat in person applications. You apply using the consulate that serves your location (some countries have different consulates for different locations) and remain there until the process completes.

you can apply from the Philippines no problem. One thing document wise they ask for now in cases like yours, with no legal business, is your most recent income tax return. If you are rejected the fee is not returned. It is lost, and a new fee is required to apply again.Brandon ************

All fees are non-refundable. They are very clear on that. And make sure you double and triple check everything about the passport information before submitting. Dozens of reports of cancelled applications due to a typo in the name not matching the passport, or the auto-entered passport number from the photo being incorrect and switching an O for a 0, etc.If you are set on the DTV visa, suggest you join the DTV Facebook group for hundreds of reports.

oh, why do they care so much about being in a given country? on the one hand they allow online application and on the other they create a problem. oh well, thank you 🙏. So I cannot apply from the territory of the Philippines?
