Hello Guys me and my Girlfriend hold DTV visa and we are Ethiopian passport holders. We are in Thailand currently and I wanted to take my Girl firend to switzerland and wanted to sumbit our files here VFS while we are in Thailand.

My concern is does holding DTV visa make me elegiable to apply? Would they accpect my application? Or they only accpect Thai citizen only?

Please any advice

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the eligibility to apply for a Swiss visa while holding a DTV visa in Thailand. Responses indicate that while applying is possible, Ethiopian citizens face a longer processing time, and the DTV visa may not be accepted for Schengen applications. It's recommended to consult official sources for accurate guidance.

I am not sure abut DTV. But I did apply at VFS (Bangkok) and got visa for Switzerland using my ED visa. You will also need re-entry stamp (which you can get it in Thai immigration office). BTW, I am from Myanmar.

incorrect, DTV doesn’t need a reentry stamp, it’s essentially a glorified tourist visa with multiple entry.

As for applying for an EU visa, it’s something you will only find out by applying but they are notoriously difficult to get. So expect to be refused as you will have difficulty proving you will return home which is the biggest chance of refusal as you aren’t actually living in your home country.

You would need to go through the Swiss website and see what requirements are needed to be successful.

when is this please? And did you ask tourist visa?

@Mike *****
it was last May - 2024. You will need a long term Thai visa to apply. But I didn’t about tourist visa. You should call VFS and ask them directly.

You can apply but Ethiopian citizens are subject to 45 days processing time for schengen visas

nothing to do with the DTV visa. He was asking if he could apply for a schengen visa from within Thailand given that he's there under a DTV

To apply for a Swiss Visa it is the Schengen Process through VFS. The DTV is a tourist visa. Unless things have changed very recently it is not accepted for Schengen visa applications. Ask the official source.

how about ed visa? If I hold the ed visa would I be elegiable?

To be honest I have no idea. The VFS site says non-Thais must show valid residence or work permit. What do they mean by "Residence" permit? It cannot mean "Residence Certificate" as you can get them in Visa Exempt in some cases. Best to check with VFS themselves.

What about the ED visa? Didn't you say you got a DTV? Do you have both DTV and ED visas?
