Morning everyone, here is my question for you : is it true that we can ask to extend any visa for 30 days? I'm on a student visa expiring in September and it would be more comfortable for me to have an extra 30 days to switch it into a business visa... You see? Thanks for your support and have a good day, Amandine.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The possibility of extending a student visa in Thailand for an additional 30 days is contingent upon the regulations set by local immigration offices. It appears that extensions for a tourist visa can be granted with specific documentation, such as an embassy letter, but for a student visa, extensions may require additional paperwork from the educational institution. It's advisable to consult your local immigration office as different regions may have varying interpretations and requirements regarding visa extensions.

You'll only get an extention of stay with your ED visa with paperwork from where you're studying.

The best way to find out is to head to the local immigration office and ask.

One important thing to remember is that thai immigration offices all seem to have their own interpretation of the rules. Chiang Mai might tell you something different from Chiang Rai, for example. Anything you learn here might not apply in your area.

I believe you can only get a 30 day extension on a tourist visa WITH an embassy letter. Changing from one Non-imm to another is up to your immigration office
