hello I have one last question please. Can I apply on the spot in Bangkok or chiang mai for O visa. I will arrive on a 30 day tourist visa and I think I would like to move to chiang mai. I know the prerequisites for the 0 visa I would just like to know if I can do the procedure on the spot. Thank you to all. I am a Canadian. I'm coming on 2 October in Bangkok

TLDR : Answer Summary
The ability to apply for a Non-O visa on the spot in Thailand, specifically in Bangkok or Chiang Mai, depends on various factors including the immigration office's policies and your financial preparation. Travelers should be aware that they will enter Thailand with a 30-day visa exempt entry stamp, not a tourist visa. It is advisable to apply for a 30-day extension upon arrival to give more time for visa processing. Key requirements include having a Thai bank account and providing financial evidence, although Canadian citizens may be eligible to use an income affidavit from their embassy instead. Using a visa agent or applying immediately for the Non-O visa can also be beneficial for ease of process.

en matière de visa , si on ne nomme pas les choses pas leur vrai nom , on perd son temps et on perd ble temps des autres on obtien que des fausses infos .
As a Canadian I believe you can get an income affidavit from your embassy so you don't need to transfer 800k to a Thai bank to obtain the in country Non-O visa. One less thing to worry about. Getting the extension is good advice as if you are applying in Chiang Mai I think you need 21 days left on your stamp to apply.
If you look to open a bank account ASAP and deposit your required finances, you can go to Immigration and apply for a 30 day extension then at the same time apply for your visa, they may want you to season your funds, have them in your Thai bank account longer, if so at the end of your 39 day extension of stay do a boarder bounce to receive another 30 days
Just some info if needed
You can do 2 boarder bounces per year, entering by land
Flying out and back in unlimited however it is at immigration officer’s discretion on how many times
Also when arriving it is not a 30 days visa unless you are applying for one, it is 30 days visa exempt
You won't have a tourist visa, you'll have a free 30 day entry stamp. You can obtain non-O visa in-country, but my advice immediately you get here, apply for 30-day extension, this will give you 60 days to go through the process. 30 days should be enough, but take the time pressure off and get the 60
There's an "under consideration" period which varies between offices. There may be some discrepancies in documents etc. Some offices want TM30, some want verification from landlord. There's a lot of bureaucratic bs to go through. That's just my advice. The OP is free to take your advice.
