TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can apply for a DTV visa while in Jakarta with US income. The key requirement is that your bank statements must be from a local bank in the country where you are currently residing. As long as you have been depositing your US earnings into a local bank account and can provide the necessary statements for income verification, you should be fine. Additionally, you must demonstrate that you have the required amount of Thai Baht (approximately 500,000, or about $15,500) available in your account for the specified duration.

If the 500k is in your bank for the amount of time the embassy requires you can it’s about $15,500 at the moment

Yes, you can,

From what I’ve read the bank statements just have to be from the country you’re currently a resident of, not your home country. So if you’ve been depositing your US earnings into a local bank and use those statements for income verification you should be ok

it can be in a bank account in your name anywhere.

sorry but you're wrong.

It does not matter which country the money is from, as long as it is in a directly accessible account, so transfer not needed.

interesting. I was going based off of an application that was denied from someone that was a us citizen living in the UK when they used their us bank statements and were told they needed to send UK bank statements instead. When they did, the application was then approved. I guess it was just another weird thai fluke

A lot of people here applied with bank statements from a different country than the country they applied from.

I applied in my home country with bank statements from another country without any problem.

that’s not really what I was saying. Being in a country and applying there is much different than being a resident of said country. Anyway carry on

I don't see what you mean then, the money does not need to be in your home country, the money does not need to be in the country you apply.

The applicant does not need to apply in the home country, the applicant does not need to apply in the country where the money is.

More possibillities I do not see...
