I have a question about how to apply for the second time medical soft power DTV application as follows:

1)apply for date first time: December 5th, I submitted documents about medical treatment soft power for teeth treatment for 2 years including dental certification/ twice treatment receipts/ next time appointment date/ bank statement/

2)place embassy : Jakarta

3)December 16th: additional documents about whole passport pages and one bank statement to be Highlights balance until 30th November

4)January 1th midnight: Jakarta embassy approve medical non Immigrant-O visa from January 1th to March 31th 2026, it’s not DTV.

5)my current passport is 60 days exemption visa expired date February 27th 2026. Because I entered into Thai on December 30th 2025.

My question is :

1) Can I apply for dtv in hanoi while the non-o is still valid

2)When is the appropriate time to submit a second DTV visa application in Hanoi ?
Answer summary
The user is inquiring about the feasibility of applying for a DTV visa at the Hanoi embassy while currently holding a Non-O visa, which was issued unexpectedly. Comments suggest that typically, one cannot hold two active visas simultaneously, and the Non-O would likely need to be canceled or allowed to expire before a DTV application would be considered. Additionally, the Non-O visa allows for an initial 90-day stay, which can be extended with the proper medical documentation.

DioParco3474 Gosh!Poor me! It's really unfair for someone like me who genuinely needs treatment. The embassy officer should interview me in person to see that I have problems with my teeth when biting food.😓

I guess the Embassy thought why would a person be 6 years in Thailand to visit a few times in a 2 year period of time the dentist.

Maximum 90 days at entry is enough to visit, leave and come back for the next appointment.

My teeth are undergoing orthodontic treatment, which requires me to visit the dentist every month for adjustments. I believe they did not seriously review the documents I submitted and have a completely incorrect understanding of my situation. I think that orthodontic treatment takes a long time, which is basic common knowledge. The embassy officer should understand this.

1 visit a month, but what about the other 30 days of the month?

Is there a need to wait for the next appointment in Thailand?

What you do while being in Thailand, travel around as tourist ?

Why the need to do this in Thailand?

You assume that Embassy staff is just there to issue on demand, but they are not.

Just sitting on the chair of the devils advocate.

Anonymous participant I have no clue, how to justify 6 years in Thailand to visit 24 times a dentist.

Go for workcation, at least you can make some money while waiting.

I guess you didn't meet the criteria for the DTV but they wanted to allow you to continue your treatment. The good news is the Non-O issued on medical grounds gives 90 days in Thailand and can be extended at a local immigration office with the appropriate documentation from the place you're being treated.

but it’s not enough for me. It needs to be treatment for 2 years

Anonymous participant it can be two years if your treatment facility agrees

Anonymous participant read what I said above. If your medical facility supports you in applying for extensions at immigration it is entirely possible to get 2 years worth of extensions from a 90 day Non-O issued on medical grounds.

You need to have your Non-O canceled first.

Usual practice is you cannot have two "Live" visas at same time. So unless you cancel the O it is unlikely they will process the DTV until the O is expired.

So you left Jakarta while your application was still being processed? Now they gave you a visa that you didn’t ask for. Hmm. You are unable to apply for a new visa while you have a valid visa in place. Needs to be canceled or wait until it is expired. Enjoy your non-o

DTV_BegPecker yes I came back Thai when the DTV was still waiting for approval. Because my Jakarta free visa is expired date and i had a dental appointment. I knew it’s high risky to leave Jakarta during pending approval.

Should I submit the second DTV application after April 1th, is it fine ?

匿名互动者 Dental appointment on 27th December. I ever show twice treatment receipts and third time appointment 27th December.

What type of visa will they issue? How could I apply for second time DTV after these situations?

Anonymous participant When the DTV first impplemented people got a DTV with 3 or 4 dental appointments. I think you are being optimistic these days thinking you would be issued one for a few appointments.

Anonymous participant for a DTV, you have to show multiple appointments spanning more than 6 months time. If you only showed them one appointment, they wouldn’t give you a DTV. But also confusing, you said you had to enter Thailand on the 30th for your appointment but now say it was the 27th

Anonymous participant dental appointment New Year’s Eve? You can reapply on the 1st, but a higher chance now that you will not get it. They might issue you another type of visa again or none. How many appointments did you show in your original application?
