Has anyone done a dtv for medical care for themselves or their children? This is actually the main reason we want to come to Thailand so we are considering that route instead of a class?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the possibility of obtaining a DTV (Diplomatic Visa for Medical Treatment) for medical care in Thailand, particularly for oneself or children. Users share their experiences, noting that DTV applications can be challenging, especially for dependents. One user highlights that applicants from the US should include a treatment plan and past medical records. Another user mentions that those under 20 must have the DTV holder as a parent or guardian. Alternative options like tourist visas based on medical reasons are also suggested.
Are you applying from the US?. From my experience, there's low chance they'll provide you medical plan prior to you, seeing doctors and be diagnosed in person. I applied for DTV for my bf here in the US. We submitted an invitation letter from the hospital along with his past medical records from hospital here to back it up. We got approved within 7 working days. I recommend writing a letter stating why you find Thailand as your healthcare destination, let them know your genuine intentions, then you'll be fine.

Yes I have DTV for medical treatment. Just ask the provider for a treatment plan that’s at least a year (mine was 2 years).

Anonym deltagare It’s a hair transplant clinic so unless that’s what you and your kid is getting it won’t help you

Why not the Tourist visa based on medical reasons, cheaper, less requirements

Have to be 20 to get a DTV so if children under that it is you who will need the DTV with them as dependents.
thank you. We both will more than likely need a lot of medical help but is there a standard time of treatment I should ask the doctor to include? 1-2 years as an example.
I have mysterious issues I need help with (long list) my son has uncontrolled epilepsy.
We would like to get us well (hopefully) and once stable possibly enroll in classes in Thailand or in America (remotely) while living in Thailand for the dtv duration.

Anonymous participant The longer the treatment plan the stronger the application. A few dental appointments got DTV issued in London July 2924 but no longer. Try to find a hospital that will support the application and has a history of successful applications. This might be the more expensive hospitals such as Bumrungrad. They have their own department dealing with immigration. Senior Dr's there have a lot of influence and power too. It is an excellent hospital. Wharton Business School use it in a business case as gold standard in medical tourism. It is not cheap though.
Anonymous participant get your DTV based on medical procedures, then after you get it get the DTV for your other family members under the dependant category. That is the best way in your case. Once they are on the DTV as dependants/spouse they can get medical treatment. They do not need their own DTV based on medical treatment.
