Can I apply for a driver's license in Thailand with mismatched addresses on my rental agreement and yellow book?

Just retired with TP Gold visa and now getting all the paperwork sorted out for a long term stay

Got 10 year rental agreement for a house and got issued yellow house book and pink id card at the local city administration (Amphur)

Next step is drivers license, need to take a test and get a medical certificate but think the TP visa plus pink id card and yellow book is ok as documentation basis for application

Just one question if anyone should have same issue, my rental agreement and yellow book does not show same address. Owner of the rental house is not very cooperative so relatives of my late wife (I am now single and intend to stay single) organized it on their blue book. It included interview at the Amphur and some paperwork. I was informed at the city office that the 2 addresses don’t have to match as many Thais are registered one place but have actually moved and live/work in another place

Any comment or advice anyone, I was married for 37 years and the wife took care of everything, now I’m on my own and need all the advice I can get

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user seeking information on obtaining a driver's license in Thailand with a TP Gold visa discusses their situation related to residency documentation. They mention having a rental agreement and a yellow house book, but the addresses do not match. Commenters share experiences regarding requirements for the driver's license, highlighting that while some offices may require a Certificate of Residence from immigration, others might accept the yellow book alone. It seems the requirements can vary by location, with some expats recommending preparing multiple documents for a smooth application process.

The only reason I got a TDL was to show friends at parties for a laugh. Otherwise it's pretty much useless.

I did my driving license yesterday take everything in that you said, they wanted a copy of everything passport data page , visa page, yellow book, ID card the lot and 1310baht, don’t forget to ask for your motorcycle license as well, sorry I forgot you will need a copy of and the original of your IDP(international driving permit)

1310 bhat think that was well inflated I paid 230 bhat for my Thai Driving License a few weeks ago.

Many DLT offices no longer accept yellow book for drivers license. That means you'll need to get a Certificate of Residence from immigration if your DLT has this policy. It will probably match the address of your TM30, which should be where your lease is.

thanks for your information. I just thought, and now obviously mistaken, that CoR = yellow book and as I understand CoR is valid for 30days whereas no expiry on yellow book. So every time I needed to show residence I would need a new CoR. Ok, don’t think big deal to get from immigration, house lease - TM30 - visa sticker/stamp

A rental agreement is not required to obtain a driving license.

If you have a yellow book then they shouldn't need the copy of your rental agreement.. i thought the latter was only needed if you couldn't produce a blue/yellow book.. eg. you only had a CoR from immigration to confirm address.. my yellow book has always been sufficient and never had to produce rental agreement (or CoR) at time of my initial DL application or the subsequent (and fairly recent) renewal at the LTO in CM.. but then different offices may have different stipulations.. after all TiT 😉

Yes, formerly known as Elite, now Thai Privilege

The address mismatch should be ok, my DL didn't accept my yellow book but wanted a certificate of residence from my immigration, but each office have different requirements. By Golden visa do you mean the elite?
