Can I obtain a DTV visa to study Buddhism or for dental work as a 'Soft Power Activity'?

Has anyone ever successfully been able to get the DTV to study Buddhism, using a letter from the Abbot of a temple for the "Soft Power Activity"? As I'd like to seriously study Buddhism without ordaining and can obtain this document.

OR

Has anyone been able to use Dental work to qualify as the "Soft Power Activity/Medical treatment"?

TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The possibility of obtaining a DTV visa for studying Buddhism using a letter from a temple Abbot has not seen successful cases yet. However, using dental work as a reason for the 'Soft Power Activity' is more promising, provided there's proper documentation such as an appointment and care plan from a recognized dental clinic. Additionally, teaching Buddhism must be through a registered school according to the Ministry of Education, which may exclude most temples. The approval also largely depends on the specific embassy and how well the application is presented.

Buddhism... not seen any approved or even submitted for the DTV visa.

Dental... Yes if documented with appointment and Care plan.. from major hospital dental department / Bangkok Hospital Dental was approved recently.

Possibly could give added advice... BUT as you are Anonymous...

Your failure to identify your passport nation, where you are now, and if in Thailand, what kind of Thai Visa do you have ?

And where are you planning to submit the DTV visa application ?

The Buddhism teaching venue would have to be a registered school with the ministry of education, and temples, and wats don't fit that category.

As always it depends on the Embassy you apply at, and how good you are selling the idea, but it is a part of Thai culture, perhaps even more than muay Thai and cooking classes.

Seminars are on the list of approved activities, possibly the Abbot can layout and produce a Buddhism instruction seminar timetable for you that reads and can be perceived as such.
