Is there a deadline for DTV holders to withdraw their money from the bank if their account is locked?

For the DTV-holders out there who are having their account locked, is there a deadline to withdraw money mentioned when the bank phoned you? I know the sooner you show up that the branch the better, but I'm half an Earth away and could be costly (if possible at all) to book a plane that depart in a few day. Can I be there mid-June and still have access to my fund?

Could someone ask the bank for me, please? I called them yesterday but the lady didn't speak good English and refused to share more over the phone any way. I'm told to be physically at the branch with my passbook and passport.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is concerned about a potential account lock for DTV visa holders and seeks information on whether there is a deadline to withdraw funds. Comments from the community provide various opinions, with some suggesting that there may be a waiting period but no immediate loss of funds, while others debate the nature of DTV as a tourist visa and the implications for banking. Several suggest contacting the bank for clarification, while responses include skepticism and humor about the situation.

yes but it’s valid for 5yrs which is a long time. So it depends on their interpretation

One or two reports of DTV holders being affected as well. Apparently if you're married to a Thai then you get to keep your account and there are other circumstances as well. Best is to lay low. Unless contacted by your bank, no need to do anything.

Banks won't steal your money unless they think it's a mule account. If you come back and you can verify you are the owner with your passport etc then you'll get your money back. They just want to verify and also scan facial recognition.

If they haven't frozen it yet would it not just make sense to transfer the money out now and you wouldn't even need to think about it 🤔

You will not lose money. The account will just be frozen till you turn up unless you are planning years out of the country

They are not getting their funds snatched. And this announcement from Bangkok bank was not about DTV holders but russian citizens.

All Banks have English speaking customer service. I'm sure you can find someone on the phone
